I’m looking for a good host to start a website and I’m liking the features bluehost has. However, it’s a linux server and I’m wondering if this will affect my computer (i.e. not being able to use it, etc.) in any way.
Will this be a problem, or can I still use it? I have Windows XP.

Bluehost is a fine host and this will not be a problem. I have 2 websites hosted with them. Hostmonster is exactly the same and is $1 per month cheaper I believe.
Go to http://global-domain-hosting.com , there is a list of hosts including Bluehost (right side menu) they all have cpanel and something called "fantastico" the least expensive of these plans is around $50 per YEAR
Aalso if you need web design you can get it done here for very cheap.
No it won’t be any issue at all.
Most web-hosts and game server hosts use linux on their servers. It’s much cheaper(normally free) and less of a resource hog then Windows server variations. The operating system doesn’t really affect the client that will be on the front end of the hosting service. As the client only has access to the programs specific to his/her hosting plan and not the host operating system. Normally this includes a control panel, Apache(web-server), PHP, and MySQL(database).
Yes, you can still use Bluehost. The operating system on your computer doesn’t have to match the one on your web server. The 2 are totally independent, and it won’t cause any problems at all.
Yes, you can. But I wouldn’t recommend using Bluehost – they don’t have the best service.
You should avoid hosts that offer "unlimited" space/bandwidth as this is somewhat of a scam. You should also avoid hosts that offer ridiculous amounts of space/bandwidth, such as 10GB space for only $5/month. Hosts like this overload and oversell servers, and are bad news for anyone who wants reliability.
You should also avoid answers here that send you to review sites, as those sites make money off commissions and rank hosts based on how much money they’ll get paid, not on how good they are. You should avoid answers here that look like they are affiliate links as well, for the same reason.
JumpLaunch.com is exactly what you need. Support is great! They will help you set up your website, and they will provide you with any help you need. Note that I am not using an affiliate link or sending you to a review site.
